SOCIETY BUSINESS (10 COMMITTEES)
ARCHIVES Duties: : (1) Locates, organizes, and preserves memorabilia relevant to the history of Delta Omicron, and (2) sends the chapter history to the State Archives Committee each biennium. CHAPTER RULES Duties:(1) Informs members of any changes in international or state documents, (2) keeps the chapter rules updated for inclusion in chapter yearbook, and (3) submits updated chapter rules to State Bylaws and Rules Committee every two years (state biennium) as required. CEREMONIES Duties: (1) Promotes an appreciation of the heritage of DKG, and (2) assists in induction of members, installation of officers, celebration of chapter birthday and Founders Day, and ceremonies of recommitment and reorientation. COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLICITY Duties: (1) Communicates pertinent news, updates, and events to chapter members as needed, (2) publicizes chapter members' honors, recognitions and awards to local media, (3) publishes chapter newsletter, (4) sends newsletter to TSO leaders as required, (5) encourages submissions to international's Bulletin and Collegial Exchange and to TSO's Lone Star News, and (6) recommends candidates for the Member-in-Print and Media Recognition awards. FINANCE Duties: (1) Prepares a budget based on the chapter members' and president's goals, (2) review dues, (3) receives requests for funds from other committees, (4) supervises expenditures, (5) provides for an annual audit of treasurer's records, (6) includes treasurer on committee and assists her as necessary, and (7) reports to the Executive Board. MEMBERSHIP Duties: (1) Leads efforts (using the Member Recruitment Plan) to recruit new members: specifically, (a) receives Prospect Cards, (b) prepares information on prospective members and conducts an election according to chapter rules, (c) sends Prospect Letters, (d) conducts the orientation for prospective members, (e) sends Induction Letters, (f) collaborates with Ceremonies Committee Chair for the induction ceremony, and (g) oversees mentoring of new members by their sponsors. (2) Also, conducts a reorientation session and/or recommitment session for all chapter members as necessary. (3) Chair assists treasurer in contacting members who have not paid dues, (4) checks attendance, and (5) keeps and updates a file of members' biographical data. NECROLOGY Duties: (1) With chapter president, chair reports the death of a member by submitting "Report of the Death of Member (Form 6)" as soon as possible to International, TSO Headquarters, and TSO Necrology Committee chair. (2) Committee conducts a chapter Celebration of Life for the departed member and participates in the funeral service if requested. NOMINATIONS Duties: (1) Informs members about opportunities for leadership and chapter offices in order to lay the groundwork for the next biennium. (2) See Article VI, Section D, 1-4 of the Chapter Rules document. (3) Chair ensures that the list of new officers with contact information is submitted to state and international as soon as possible after the election and before the required deadline. TECHNOLOGY Duties: (1) Maintains a current, DKG-in-compliance chapter website, (2) secures permission forms from incoming members for chapter website's use of a member's name and/or photo, (3) maintains a file of signed permission forms, and (4) increases member awareness of technology resources. YEARBOOK Duties: (1) Develops an annual yearbook for members use and archival purposes, (2) uses links to international and state websites instead of reprinting available information, (3) distributes yearbook to members in electronic format via chapter website and emailed file, (4) provides printed copies for members without computer access, and (5) mails printed copies to state headquarters for the state archives and to other state officials as required. SOCIETY MISSION AND PURPOSES (NINE COMMITTEES)
GLOBAL AWARENESS Duties: (1) Leads chapter participation in international projects (Support Early career Educators), (2) informs members of World Fellowship grant recipients studying in Texas, and (4) encourages donations to World Fellowship and other international and state global-outreach activities. LEGISLATION Duties: (1) While maintaining a nonpartisan stance, informs members of current economic, political, and educational issues at local, state, and national levels, (2) encourages member participation in the legislative and political process, and (3) encourages support of desirable legislation in the the interest of education and of women educators. PROGRAMS AND SERVICE PROJECTS Duties: (1) Promotes active involvement of chapter members by developing and implementing programs and projects that serve the chapter and the community. RESEARCH Duties: (1) Develops educational research that enhances (a) chapter programs, (b) showcases members, for example, through get-acquainted interviews and newsletter articles, (c) survey members about chapter needs, and (d) offers possible programs of action. WOMEN in the ARTS Duties: to provide opportunities for members to participate in a variety of artistic endeavors, such as the Visual Arts Display at conventions or the annual Texas art retreat (STAR). ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS Duties: (1) Annually or biennially, recognizes one or more members who have contributed significantly to the progress of the chapter, who have made significant achievements in DKG, professionally, and/or personally; and (2) presents each recipient with a special pin. SCHOLARSHIP Duties: (1) Publicizes the chapter's scholarship and the CCDC (county), TSO, and international scholarships and grants. SPECIAL COMMITTEES (TWO COMMITTEES)
FELLOWSHIP (Luncheons and Field Trips) Duties: (1) Makes arrangements for fellowship lunches and field trips for members and their guests, and and (2) coordinates with members; that is, selects the venue, communicates with members, keep an RSVP count, and arranges with the venue) Chair:Wanda Spoonmore Members: Maureen Baker, Suzanne Babcock, Susan Bell, Katherine Grogan
SOCIAL ARRANGEMENTS Duties: organizes the hospitality at meetings (specifically, the meeting room decorations, set-up of refreshments, hostesses during fellowship time, and take-down of refreshments and clean-up of room after meetings).
